Biosketch

 

Dr. Hurwitz has more than a decade of epidemiologic and integrative health-care research experience and has recently been the project director for two federally funded randomized clinical trials addressing the effectiveness of chiropractic and medical care for low-back and neck pain. With funding from the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM), Dr. Hurwitz is currently studying the interrelationships of psychosocial, behavioral, and immune factors in spinal pain. Since 2000, he has been a member of the Scientific Secretariat of The Bone and Joint Decade 2000-2010 Task Force on Neck Pain and Its Associated Disorders. Dr. Hurwitz is an author or coauthor of numerous integrative medicine-related articles in peer-reviewed journals, including the American Journal of Public Health, Spine, and the Annals of Internal Medicine, and serves as a reviewer for NCCAM.
