Biosketch

 

Dr. Hsiao received his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine in 1997, and finished his internal medicine training at ST. Elizabeth Hospital, Boston, in 2000. Dr. Hsiao is currently a Specialty Training and Advanced Research (STAR) fellow at the UCLA Division of General Internal Medicine. He also received clinical training the UCLA Center for East-West Medicine. His research and clinical interests include chronic pain, HIV, irritable bowel syndrome, and integrative medicine. His PhD dissertation project is to develop a conceptual framework and measurement of a practitioner's orientation towards integrative medicine. A major emphasis of his current work is to assess the effectiveness of integrative medicine in treating patients with irritable bowel syndrome. He also teaches and mentors medical students and medical residents who are interested in integrative medicine.
